How to insert PDF into PowerPoint - 3 different ways

Wondering can I insert a pdf into PowerPoint? There are three ways you can insert a PDF into your PowerPoint presentation - you can use the PowerPoint insert object feature, you can screenshot the PDF using PowerPoint or you can screenshot the PDF using a snipping tool and paste the PDF as an image. Here is a step-by-step guide to insert a PDF file into Microsoft PowerPoint with the three different options:

Option 1: How to insert PDF into PowerPoint using PowerPoint Insert Object

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation and select the slide where you want to insert the PDF file.
  2. Click on the “Insert” tab in the PowerPoint Ribbon.
  3. In the “Text” section, click on “Object”.
  4. In the “Insert Object” dialog box, “Create from File”.
  5. Click on “Browse” to locate your PDF file and select it.
  6. Click on “OK”. The first page of the PDF will appear in your PowerPoint presentation as an image.

Alternatively, you can insert a screenshot of your PDF document as a picture by using the PowerPoint Insert Screenshot feature.

Option 2: How to insert PDF into PowerPoint using PowerPoint's Insert Screenshot

  1. Open your PDF document and switch to PowerPoint.
  2. Select the slide where you want to add the content to.
  3. On the “Insert” tab, in the “Images” group, click on “Screenshot”.
  4. Your PDF file should be the first thumbnail image in the available windows list.
  5. Below the thumbnail images, select “Screen Clipping”.
  6. Drag to draw a box around the content that you want to clip.
  7. When you stop dragging, the selected area appears on the PowerPoint slide as a picture.

Or you can use a screenshotting app such as Microsoft's Snipping tool.

Option 3: How to insert PDF into PowerPoint using screenshot app like Snipping Tool

  1. Open your PDF document and your PowerPoint presentation
  2. Navigate to the page of the PDF that you want to copy
  3. Open the Snipping Tool or the screenshotting app you typically use (go to Windows start menu and type Snipping to display the tool)
  4. Use the Snipping Tool to select the portion of the PDF page that you want to insert
  5. Copy the image of the PDF that is displayed in Snipping Tool
  6. Paste the image onto the slide in your PowerPoint presentation.
