Lock or Unlock Objects

PPT Productivity PowerPoint add in has 200+ time saving features. The Lock Objects feature let you easily lock shapes, tables, images, or other objects to your PowerPoint slide to prevent movement. Plus you can also unlock them if you have PPT Productivity installed. Standard PowerPoint is slowly introducing an object locking feature, but it can be unlocked easily and does not prevent text editing.

PPT Productivity add-in's Lock Objects PowerPoint feature lets you lock any shape, object or placeholder on a PowerPoint slide. This is how to lock powerpoint objects to prevent editing.

Shapes, objects, images and tables cannot be locked by standard PowerPoint, but using PPT Productivity add-in for PowerPoint you can:
- Lock images: Lock images in PowerPoint to prevent them from moving - you can also lock them to the Slide Master
- Lock shapes: Lock shapes in PowerPoint - you can lock single shapes or grouped shapes on PowerPoint slides
- Lock logos: Lock logos in PowerPoint - lock logo files to your slide or to your PowerPoint Slide Master so the logo appears correctly on every slide
- Lock textbox: Lock PowerPoint textbox position so you can edit text but keep the position fixed
- Lock objects: Lock any other PowerPoint objects too - PPT Productivity's Shape locker feature lets you lock any object including PowerPoint tables to your slides
Locking objects in PowerPoint prevents you (or others!) from accidentally moving or editing them.
Shape locking feature will lock the shapes or objects for anyone accessing the slide. The shape or object will be locked for editing even if the person viewing it does not have PPT Productivity installed.
Productivity Tip

How to lock a textbox but allow editing of the text? Using a textbox enables you to lock a shape while leaving the text accessible for editing. But if you want to lock both the shape and the text, converting your text box to a table or inserting a 1x1 table to hold the text (before locking) will result in both shape and text being locked.

Lock objects to the Slide Master

Shapes, objects tables and images can be locked to the PowerPoint Slide Master using PPT Productivity, so the locked shape appears consistently through the presentation.

PPT Productivity addin PowerPoint Shape Locker enables you to lock any shape, object or placeholder on the PowerPoint Slide Master (in addition to any normal slide). For example, to ensure copyright text appears on all slides in a presentation, you can add this to the master slide and lock it into position.

Lock images such as logos or pictures to your slide master so they appear on all or selected layouts used in your presentation. Shape locking works for anyone accessing the slide. The shape or object will be locked for editing even if slide users do not have PPT Productivity installed.

Unlock objects

Locked shapes, objects, images or tables in your PowerPoint presentation can be unlocked using PPT Productivity.

Select the PowerPoint slide/s containing locked shape(s) you need to unlock, then click 'Unlock objects' (Found beneath the Lock Object icon on the PPT Productivity Ribbon).

The file will close momentarily and reopen (you need to first save your document to a local drive). Previously locked objects will then be unlocked and can be moved and edited like any other shape or image.

Productivity Tip

You need PPT Productivity installed to unlock any shapes, objects, images or tables that you have locked (so if you lock a shape it will be locked for anyone viewing the presentation without PPT Productivity installed). Only users with PPT Productivity installed on their machine can then unlock the shapes.
