PPT Productivity's Manage Slide Numbers and Slide Totals feature allows you to customize the slide number formatting in PowerPoint presentations. You can choose to include the slide number and total slide count in your preferred format e.g. Slide 1 of 10. You can exclude hidden slides from slide numbers, so your presentation shows sequential numbering. You can also change the starting number for PowerPoint presentations and display or hide numbering on the Title page.

PPT Productivity gives you full flexibility for how you display and format slide numbers in your PowerPoint presentation. Using this feature you can:
- Show slide totals/ page count: Select from formatting options that display slide numbers alone or slide numbers with totals. You can also customize the wording that appears with the slide numbering.
- Change the starting slide number: Nominate the starting number of your PowerPoint presentation. Great if you prefer to start slide numbering on the first content page rather than the title, or when preparing separate presentations that will be collated after printing.
- Skip hidden slides: Omit hidden slides from numbering and slide totals so your slide numbers and totals appear sequential and correct when presenting to your audience.
- Title pages: Display or hide slide numbering on the title page(s).

Slide Numbers with totals

Standard PowerPoint does not have an option to display dynamic slide count / the total number of slides on each slide. Using PPT Productivity add-in for PowerPoint you can display the slide count on each slide and customize the wording.

PPT Productivity has a feature to easily add Powerpoint slide number total to each slide. This lets you manage your PowerPoint slide number format. Also called a slide count or page count, it displays the total number of slides in your presentation beside the slide number. The slide count/ total dynamically updates when changes are made to add, rearrange or delete slides.
For example, if you insert a slide into a 10 slide deck, each slide number will automatically update to Slide X of 11.
PPT Productivity has a dropdown list of suggested slide number formats which can also be customized (by editing or entering new text before, between or after the existing text and slide number placeholders). The PowerPoint Slide number with total display format options include:
- # of ##
- #/##
- # (of ##)
- slide #
- slide # of (##)
- slide #/##
- ...or your set your own personal/corporate format
Wording that appears with the slide numbering can be customized. For example, change the word 'Slide' in Slide # of ## to your preferred language or terminology. Perhaps you prefer Page rather than Slide?
Displaying PowerPoint totals on each slide makes it easier to run your meetings and keep on schedule. Standard PowerPoint does not let users customize or configure the display of slide numbers with dynamic updating.

Add words to Slide Numbers

PPT Productivity's PowerPoint Manage Slide Numbers and Totals feature makes it easy to add wording to your slide numbers.

For example you can customize your PowerPoint slide numbering to display:
- Slide 1 of 10
- Page 1 of 10
- Acme Corp RFP Response, Slide 1 of 10
- 1 (of 10 Pages)
Some examples of when this might be useful:
- RFPs or proposal responses for business development: When preparing proposals or proposal responses in PowerPoint, you can include information along with the slide or page number rather than including in a separate footer E.g. Update the Slide number/ totals format option # of ## to display ACME Outsourcing RFP, Page 1 of 28.
- Alternate languages: you can use this feature to include the relevant word for your slides/ pages in another language, for example Folie 1 von 10.

Change Starting Slide Number

How to change the starting slide number in PowerPoint? PPT Productivity makes it easy! To change the starting number in your presentation, simply nominate your preferred starting number using PPT Productivity's Slide Numbers and Totals feature.

PPT Productivity makes it easy to change the nominated starting slide number for your PowerPoint presentation. For example if you prefer to exclude slide numbers from the PowerPoint title page and make the first content page slide 1, you can easily do this by setting Number Slides from to 0.
You can also select to show or hide numbering on the title slide, by deselecting the Show on title slides checkbox. You can use this feature to for presentations that will be collated after printing, for example RFPs or proposal responses for business development. For example, update the Slide number/ totals format option # of ## to display Section 2, Page 1 of 30.

Productivity Tip

When you deselect the Show on Title Slides checkbox, this will remove PowerPoint slide numbering from any slide in your presentation that uses the Title Slide layout. Refer to our Slide numbering help guide if you have used the Title slide layout in the content of your presentation.

Skip Slide Numbers on Hidden Slides

PowerPoint has an option to nominate slides as 'hidden'. When you have a slide you do not want it to display when presenting, tagging it as a hidden slide tells presenter mode to skip this slide. But standard PowerPoint does not let you skip the hidden slides in the slide numbers sequence.

PPT Productivity's Manage Slide Numbers and Slide Totals feature lets you skip slide numbers on hidden slides in PowerPoint. This means that when in PowerPoint presenter mode, your slide numbers will all appear in sequence (numbering is removed from hidden slids, so there is no skipping of numbers or indication of slides being hidden).
The Manage Slide Numbers and Slide Totals feature displays the option - you can choose to either skip slide numbers on hidden slides or keep the numbers on all slides.

Productivity Tip

You can easily toggle PowerPoint slide numbers on or off the hidden slides if you want to remove slide numbering on hidden slides for presenting, but include numbering on them for printing.
How to hide a slide in powerpoint? To hide a PowerPoint slide so it doesn't show when presenting, simply right mouse click on the slide thumbnail (to the left of the main slide view) and select Hide slide from the menu.

Slide Navigator

Quickly navigate to a specific slide number in PowerPoint, or use back and forward navigation like browser navigation to move between slides in PowerPoint. Particularly useful to navigate long presentations.

PPT Productivity's Slide Navigator for PowerPoint feature lets you quickly jump to a specific slide number in PowerPoint. You can also use the forward and backward navigation arrows like you would on a website, to navigate quickly between two slides at different points in your presentation.

Simply key in the slide number to the Go to slide... navigator box and press enter.

Productivity Tip

If you have added Slide numbers to your presentation, the Slide Navigator will navigate based on the slide numbers (eg if the 3rd slide in your presentation is actually numbered slide 2 on the slide numbering, entering 2 in the Go to slide... navigator will take you to the 3rd slide).

Trying to navigate slides while presenting? You can either key in the PowerPoint slide number and click enter, or right click with your mouse, select Go to... from the menu and enter the slide number. However these standard options only work in presenter mode, not in editing mode.
